SAVE A WOMAN CONCERT


The priority of Rose Odika initiative is to provide a comfortable & sustainable environment for the welfare of women and children in the society. The initiative is a non governmental and non political organisation established to assist and reposition the woman in realising the responsibilities nature has saddled her with, and also help in reducing the violence on women and children to the barest minimum.
If everyone endeavour to save a woman then, a good percentage of women in the society will be empowered and the society will be a better place.
Rose Odika , in her quest to contribute her quota to the society came up with this initiative in order to promote gender equality and women empowerment, as well as strengthening their participation in governance. The vision is for women and children to live in a world of social justice and respect for their rights. Rose has been supporting deprived women in her own little capacity from what she earns as an actor.
Rose Odika is a successful actor on stage, television and film in Nigeria. Her acting career spans across: Mummy water’s wedding (1991), Neighbour next door (1992), Ododo Eye (1993). She is also a producer cum Gospel singer, she produced her first movie Alaparutu in 2009 and her second movie Enu Eje (2010) is a movie produced to sensitize the public against female abuse.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
v To reposition women and children in the society
v To fight violence against women and girl child
v To rehabilitate the under privileged, the poor and the needy
v To promote gender equality, women empowerment and strengthen their participation in governance especially in Nigeria where men hold sway

CATEGORIES OF WOMEN TO SAVE
*     Sexually abused women and young girls
*     Women Albino
*     Widows whose rights are being trampled upon
*     Under aged girls who are forced into marriage for financial purposes
*     House wives who are being battered by their husbands in one way or the other
*     Women who are being marginalised in politics on gender inequality
*     Victims of human trafficking mostly the under aged
*     Women underpaid, deprived of fringe benefits such as maternity leave or fired for getting married and getting pregnant
*     Cancerous / HIV Infected women from dying ignorantly
*     Women dying from child labour

SAVE A WOMAN CONCERT 2011
Rose Odika in her bid to give back to the society came up with a concert tagged SAVE A WOMAN CONCERT. As a fast growing and the third largest movie industry in the world, the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as NOLLYWWOOD, which Rose belongs to is ready to throw her weight behind the concert, which promises to be an unprecedented event with cultural displays, music performances and fashion shows from young and dynamic individuals drawn from the field of arts and theatre. They will give quality entertainment to the people without compromising standards and professionalism. Our collection of different talents is a delight to behold.

OUR GOAL
We see entertainment as a veritable tool that can be used to re-orientate our society, and through our refined display of dance, drama, song etc. We aim at the following goals....
1. Woman Empowerment
2. Promotion of our highly esteemed cultural heritage
3. Educating the people through our informative performSince inception, we have thirty women who are in our care. Four are in the polytechnic of Ibadan. We are responsible for the payment of their tuition fees. The rest are tailors, hair dressers and petty traders. We provide sewing machines, dryers and kiosk for them to carry out their craft and trades.

WHY THE EVENT
Great women of substance and courage have contributed their quota in making sure there is social justice and respect for women e.g. Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, Madam Efunroye Tinubu, Hajia Sawaba Gambo to mention a few. The event is to keep on with the good work these women have left behind. The essence of this concert is to generate funds to financially establish the organisation for the big task ahead in order to make the pet project a reality which will add value, new lease of life to the affected, the deprived, the battered and the abused who will be rescued back to life through the initiative which is our greatest significanceances
